Jim and Ellen Hough Owners of Mingo Creek Craft Distillers contacted me about designing the packaging for their Liberty Pole Spirits brand of bourbons and whiskeys. Ellen had done a lot of research about the rebellious Mingo Creek Society who placed Liberty Poles along the National Road in Pennsylvania protesting the Federal Excise Tax in 1791. 

With this great name and story I designed a Joan of Arc type character which Ellen named Spirited Jane and I bannered with the byline "Liberty Improves the Spirit."

This was a intricate packaging design project deftly handled by NIAGARA LABEL and it has led to additional marketing collateral projects working with the Houghs and as well to other craft distilling projects.
